So all done , one month without any alcohol. To be honest it was surprisingly easy. I’m not a massive drinker but Christmas is always an over indulgent month so as soon as Boxing Day ended it was time for a break!
There were only three occasions where I wanted to have a drink, it was less about needing a drink more about about a nice setting and a spot of sunshine in the January gloom that made me fancy a social glass of wine. In fact I didn’t drink again straight away. I’m sure my liver will appreciate the break after the Christmas festivities.
I didn’t feel any of the fabled magical results of not drinking. No massive weight loss, it was no miracle sleeping cure, and as I don’t go on benders there was no real change for me. But I’m sure it had some invisible benefits.
I did notice that there is a distinct lack of interesting drinks in cafes, bars and restaurants that aren’t alcoholic.
4 weeks hasn’t motivated me to drop alcohol altogether, because I really do like a glass of wine, but it’s nice to take a break.
