2019 Monthly challenge: April

At the start of the year I gave myself a list of things I wanted to do every single month of 2019. April has been a great month and I’ve managed to cross everything off!

This is a bit of a late post because the start of May has been crazy.

April brings my birthday, Easter (stuffing my face with chocolate and a week of annual leave.

Have 1 lazy day

Lazy days are important , they help us to recover, to be resilient and to catch up on some sleep. I have been keeping my promise to myself to make the most of lazy days. To relax watch telle and avoid running myself into the ground doing the house work or just attempting to “get stuff done”. A day to take the opportunity to do nothing, to spend the day with no plan or to do list. This month Hubby and I had a Marvel movie marathon and snuggled up together for our lazy day, the dog joined us for the cuddles but he slept though the films. It was lovely and just what I needed! Some well deserved family time and a good cuddle.

Visit a new place

We went to Blue Pool with the pups. I absolutely adored Blue Pool, it wasn’t a very long walk, but it was gorgeous. My dad says we have been before as kids but I can’t remember it so I have counted it as somewhere new! Blue Pool is a flooded disused clay pit; the water has the most gorgeous colour and there is a little tea rooms for a pit stop after you’ve walked round. A great opportunity to take photos of the hounds and enjoy an afternoon with my family.

It’s a shame the dogs can’t paddle in the water but other than that it’s a great afternoon out.

Walk a “different” dog walk.

Duke and I joined a MASSIVE group walk at Weymouth.

I quite enjoyed Weymouth beach, it offered lots of new experiences for the hound.

It’s really important for us to explorer new places. It shakes off the routine for me and gives Duke lots of new smells and exciting things to explore. It challenges us and our training in a fun, positive way.

Duke did really well with all the other dogs and all the chaos going on. I was really impressed with him. There were 100s of dogs as it was an organised mass walk before beaches are closed to dogs for spring/ summer. He walked really nicely and paid more attention to me than the other dogs: these kinds of walks are great training for our hound. But…. he did bark at the walks host who was dressed in a giant dog suit.

Try something new.

I painted the bathroom white! Trying something new decor in the house…..

White paint wouldn’t normally be my first choice but it’s given the bathroom a really fresh feel.

Cross something off my “Bucket list”.

Bucket list item; mindfulness

I’ve been doing my best to practice mindfulness. I want to try and feel more present and connect. It’s been on my bucket list for a little while so it was a good excuse to focus on it every day for a week.

Watch a new film.

So we went to see the final Avengers film, and all I’m going to say is it was excellent. No spoilers from me! It’s worth seeing. It’s everything you want it to be and more!!

I loved pretty much every bit. I laughed, jumped and almost cried.

When a film has so many characters it can be hard to give everyone the attention they deserve, but End Game is fantastic and covers everyone’s story in a fitting a wonderful way. There was definitely a few surprises. But nothing that left you feeling cheated or confused.

I’m looking forward to the next wave of Marvel Films.

Treat myself to something small.

So I went a bit big on the treat! BUT it is my birthday month so it’s allowed right? My Dad and his wife bought me some gorgeous wellies from Joules for my birthday; I just had to buy myself the matching raincoat. How could I not…. it has little dogs on! I love joules, there are always lots of little but beautiful details that really sets it apart from other brands. It’s possibly one of my favourite outdoor brands at the moment as it’s outdoor gear thats genuinely girly, functional and high quality.

Cook a new recipe.

I’ve been so boring with the new recipe, I’ve yet to make something note worthy but I’m hopeful May gives me some cooking motivation!

Run a different route.

Running is in full swing again. I’m finally back up to runny 6miles at a time. Half marathon training has taken over. My friend and I went over the heath and explored round where we work. It’s so so beautiful. The heath seems to go on for miles and miles.

The route is pretty hard as the ground is so varied; wet in places hard ground in others. It’s also overgrown and rocky at times…. but it a great, challenging run. Also we got to see some dear and cows as we ran!

Download and listen to a new song.

I’m completely and utterly obsessed with this song. It’s just so beautiful. I actually came across it in someone’s Stories on Instagram and I was completely obsessed with it within seconds. It’s constantly on repeat on my phone.

Visit family of have family come to visit us.

It was my birthday so we had quite a few visitors for a change! It was lovely to see everyone. My baby cousins came to visit, my Aunty and granddad, brother and dad and stepmum. So we had plenty of visitors.

Listen to a song I haven’t heard in a while.

I love Norah Jones, her voice is truly incredible. This is also one of my most favourite songs.

Do something that scares me.

Duke and I have joined a new Dog training program! It always makes me worry when ever we start something new. I worry it’ll be too much for Duke, but he did me proud! He’s taken it all in his stride. I worry about what people will think, say and do. But every time Duke proves that no one else is important; just what he and I do! He’s a good boy .

Bring on May! I’m sure it’s going to be spectacular.
